For the 2012/13 season, TK has launched an exciting new technology combination into their Platinum hockey sticks. The technologies consist of DynamoTex, a revolutionary material process that takes hockey stick strength to the maximum, and IDS (Integrated Dampening System) which is a complementary technology developed to absorb shockwaves in a remarkable manner.
So how does it work? Well, DynanoTex Technology is a purification process for dry carbon fibre strands. A 24K carbon fibre strand (containing 24,000 carbon fibres) is separated and precision tension rolled to achieve almost 80% alignment in the fibres. This increases the strand width to 15mm from the typical 6 - 7mm seen in more widely used carbon fibre left in a more roughly bundled state. The result is an increase in the performance of each strand to near 100% of potential fibre strength, thereby improving shear and tensile strength and reduce twisting and flexing on impact to increase the level of energy transfer through the ball.
Whereas the Integrated Dampening System (IDS) is an anti-vibration measure that uses a piezo-electric fibre cell built into the hockey handle, so then when the vibration waves move up the stick the cell converts them into undetectable electric signal and then into heat energy.
The Platinum P1 and Platinum P2 also sport an evenly balanced 25mm late bow, the apex of which is moved towards the head to create greater drag force and sharper angles in the lower section of the stick. This shape principally aids dynamic ball control and multi-directional dribbling as well as drag flicking and aerial passing, but still performs basic ball movement skills well. The overall result is a fantastic hockey stick with great balance, exceptional power but none of the expected vibrations.

New Freedom F1
The Freedom f1 offers a 22mm mid-shaft bow with a thinner profile for a lighter pick up. A tighter angled hook head with a 10mm toe extension benefits reverse stick control, while the shape itself suits a quick and upright playing style. The Freedom hockey sticks utilise an Advanced Matrix composition which is a formulated mix of Carbon, Aramid and Glassfibre to produce the maximum performance from conventional composite materials.
