England's female hockey stars will not have the chance to claim a medal in the current Champions Trophy, following a draw with China.
The 0-0 stalemate against the Asian side ensured the national team cannot qualify for Pool C, where the gold, silver and bronze titles will be up for grabs.
Instead, England will compete in Pool D, which will determine the order of teams finishing between fifth and eighth.
As well as the 0-0 draw against the Chinese, the 1-1 tie between Argentina and Korea contributed to the team's downfall, as they finished third in the initial group stage.
England had the chances to win the game, including a penalty stroke just six minutes from time after impressive play from Helen Richardson and Alex Danson, but a save from goalkeeper Zhang denied them a much-required win.
The men's national team is currently in Amsterdam competing in the Rabo Four Nations Cup against Germany, Pakistan and the Netherlands.
